The death of broadcast and Cultural Ambassador Leonie Forbes has left government officials and the general public in mourning. Mayor of Kingston Delroy Williams says the Municipality is focused on honoring her legacy. Among those celebrating the local legend is Prime Minister Andrew Holness who took to social media to honor her, noting Jamaica has lost an iconic and pioneering figure in media, film, and television. Holness says she was always elegant and gracious, and her voice commanded both respect and admiration. The Prime Minister says she possessed a crisp, clear voice, warm personality, and contribution that will never be forgotten.
Likewise, Mayor of Kingston, Delroy Williams who also acknowledged her cultural contribution, says the municipality is dedicated to paying tribute, honoring her legacy. Mayor Williams says, Forbes played a major role in the development of Jamaica’s identity, through her impressive contributions. Watch this report:
