The town of Old Harbour in St Catherine opened its new fire station on Tuesday. It is the first time in 17-years since the facility has been opened after its closure by the health authorities. Members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade in Old Harbour were out in their numbers Tuesday for the reopening of the newly built facility. In 2005 the old fire station located at 25 South Street became derelict and was abandoned by firefighters as health authorities deemed the facility unsafe.
Local Government Minister Desmond Mckenzie, says the newly built facility will cater to more than 30,000 persons. Full report:
