One Man Killed in Dyke Road Gun Battle, 6 Guns Recovered

A 48-hour curfew was imposed in the Gregory Park community of St Catherine on Tuesday, and on Thursday extended for another 48 hours, after one man was shot dead during a shoot-out with lawmen. The St. Catherine south police send a stark warning to rival gangs operating in the area -this is “their ground now” and they will not relent in apprehending them.

Members of the security forces responding to arson attacks in an area known as Mexico in Gregory Park, Portmore, St. Catherine, were reportedly challenged by armed gangsters along Dyke Road, resulting in one man being killed – several houses were torched.  Head of the St. Catherine South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Christopher Phillips says six weapons including high-powered rifles were also found.

Meanwhile, the police have listed some persons of interest in relation to the recent flare-up of crime and violence in sections of the division. They are: Richard Hemley, otherwise called ‘Devils’, Kirk Wint, otherwise called ‘Big Red’, Christopher Barrett, otherwise called ‘Chicken Back’, Elijah Carless, otherwise called ‘Papalou’, Ricardo Carson, otherwise called ‘Trooper’, Shane Williams, otherwise called ‘Tussain’, Imoro Mckenzie, otherwise called ‘Munga’, Cedrick Barnett, Miguel Tracey, and Sanjay Tracey.

Additionally, eight men known only by their aliases as ‘Techa’ ‘Nigel’, ‘Dog Shot’, ‘Dappa’, ‘Cedrick’, ‘Bailey Boy’, ‘Tae Tae’ and ‘Steve’. SSP Phillips believes Mckenzie, Williams, Wint, and the man by the name of ‘Teacha’ can assist with the latest incident. He says three of the men are members of the Mexico gang while the other belongs to the Banga Gully Gang.
