Opposition And Government Clash Over Tabling of Reports

Tensions flared in the lower house today as government and opposition lawmakers clashed over the protocol for handling reports submitted to Parliament. Juliet Holness, presiding over the session, ruled that special and annual reports must first go through Parliament’s oversight committee before being tabled in the Gordon. This decision has sparked controversy, with opposition members and civil groups questioning the Speaker’s alteration of a longstanding house convention that has traditionally been beneficial for lawmakers.
