Opposition Calls For Greater Oversight In Financial Sector

Following days of deepening fraud and controversy surrounding oversight of the financial services sector, Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson has called on the Andrew Holness led administration to break its silence and intervene to restore order to the sector.

His call comes on the heels of news now in the international media that athletic sprint legend, Usain Bolt was among dozens of people who was fleeced of millions of US dollars in local investment firm Stocks and Stocks Limited.

He is also questioning the financial services oversight body, the Financial Services Commission’s actions over the years in addressing breaches at the entity again in the web of controversy. Robinson says it is crucial that the government of Jamaica acts to restore confidence noting reputational damage.
