Opposition Chastises GOJ For Face-to-Face Learning Delays

Opposition spokesperson on education, Dr Angella Brown Burke has accused the government of punishing the nation’s children for their own shortcomings.  She reiterates calls for the swift return of students to face-to-face learning.

She says there are many instances in which the government can facilitate some form of in-person learning, but insists there is just not enough will. The government had said that once schools attain a 65 per cent vaccination rate, they would be inclined to resuming face-to-face learning based on the Health Ministry’s advice.

Dr Angella Brown Burke the education shadow minister says that’s not likely to happen without public pressure. She says not only are children being forced to stay home with their abusers but they are brought closer to criminal elements in some communities.

Dr Brown Burke says while there will be some risks those can be addressed to cause smooth transition over time through partnerships, she also notes.
