Angry protestors led by Members of the People’s National Party (PNP) continue to call for Dr. Christopher Tufton’s resignation. Demonstrations came to a head after 12 babies died at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston this year.
Protestors with symbolic baby dolls and placards lined the streets of New Kingston. The latest march was led by Opposition Leader, Mark Golding who’s calling for Tufton’s resignation and for the Ministry to be held accountable for their actions. Golding further bashed the Minister for his support of Westmoreland Central’s Member of Parliament, George Wright who was implicated in the viral beating of a woman before resigning from the JLP.
Meanwhile, junior shadow Minister for Health and Wellness, Jesse James Clarke echoed the leader’s sentiments, highlighting the perceived plight of public hospitals across the island.
Supporters say protests will continue until they see an improvement in the delivery of health care services. Watch the report:
