“Misleading” that’s how Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs Marlene Malahoo-Forte describes criticism from Opposition Leader Mark Golding regarding legislations under the law reform pertaining to the Zones of Special Operations.
The Opposition Leader says more effective solutions must be implemented as ZOSOs have proven to be insufficient. Speaking in Parliament Tuesday, Opposition Leader Mark Golding while supporting the new resolutions under the law reform Zones of Special Operations and the special security and community development measures act, says crime is still a major concern.
He insists implementing ZOSOs is not sufficient. He says though there are currently seven areas deemed crime hot spots, other sections have been seeing an uptick in crime.
Golding also says he is pleased with the recent recoveries of firearms. The Opposition Leader adds whilst supporting the law under the constitution, he has however concerned about the infringement of rights regarding citizens. Watch more details below:
