Opposition Senator Sophia Frazer Binns is confirming the People’s National Party (PNP)’s support of the National Identification System (NIDS) set to roll out this year. She spoke with CVM Live, where she commended the government on its progress in developing the system.
At least one PNP Senator is confirming the opposition’s support of NIDS following confirmation from Prime Minister Andrew Holness that it will be fully operational in 2022. Sophia Frazer Binns says a national identification system is a hallmark of a positive societal growth.
She says the opposition had serious concerns relating to data protection that have been amended. When asked the question of how receptive the public may be to NIDS she says that while many will buy into the system, the government should use public education to dispel doubts that may arise.
