Opposition member, Phillip Paulwell, is raising concerns about the increase in fuel prices. He says the government needs to address this matter as Jamaica will face major challenges during this period. Recommendations were also made by the opposition to the government that will better suit consumers.
Phillip Paulwell has raised concerns regarding the seemingly unrelenting rise in fuel prices. Paulwell says there is an increase demand not only for regular fossil fuel, but also lng. This issue he notes is worldwide and will greatly impact consumers locally. He notes Jamaica is up for a challenging time.
He says however opposition members have put forward recommendations for the government to solve the issue. He points that though there have been no new taxes for this year, the government is still accumulating abundance in taxes from fuels. He says if the government does not rectify this issue, Jamaica could face a major calamity. In regards to lowering the prices for the benefit of consumers, Paulwell explains the reduction of the SET will be more conducive.
