On the heels of the Prime Minister’s call for consensus between the Government of Jamaica and the Opposition, members of the People’s National Party (PNP) say they are displeased with his timing. Members of the Opposition, PNP are again highlighting recent comments made by the Government of Jamaica, regarding security and environmental concerns.
Speaking at the South East St. Elizabeth Divisional Conference, the members lashed out against the government’s perceived neglect of the Jamaican people, highlighting that better can be done. Noting the recent environmental flair-up regarding the Dovecot burial grounds extension, Spanish Town Mayor, Norman Scott says he brought the matter to Prime Minister Andrew Holness but says there was no resolution.
His concerns regarding the lack of an effective crime plan were echoed by Opposition Spokesperson on National Security, Senator Peter Bunting, who also attacked the government for the increase in crime. Prime Minister Holness had called for consensus between both major political parties, to effectively tackle crime.
