Some opposition members are hailing the latest ultimatum issued by its leader to the National Security Minister and the Police Commissioner as one of the motivations for recent crime fighting successes.

The opposition contends that while it will not support the state of emergency it will continue to give support for the zones of special operations. 

Opposition spokesman on national security, senator peter bunting says since the opposition’s ultimatum to the security minister and police commissioner, there’s been a greater push to fight crime. The opposition has however been adamant that the strategy of using states of emergency to tackle the current crime problem is not the way to go. Hence, their willingness to support the Zones of Special Operations, rather than the SOEs. A position he stood by when the national security minister sought to extend the zones of special operations in several areas including Denham Town and Greenwich Town Thursday in the lower house.
