With only nine days left until Christmas, members of the disabled community were reminded that they are valued. In keeping with the traditions of Christmas the Sanmerna Foundation, inspire to empower organization and the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) on Thursday held their annual Christmas treat.
Over 200 students and other members of the disabled community were celebrated while applauding the initiative Managing Director of JUTC, Cecil Thoms assured persons with special needs that the newly arrived JUTC electric bus will cater to their needs. This comes after an announcement made in June of this year that the government will be spending approximately us$6.4 million to acquire 50 buses to increase the JUTC fleet in the corporate area. He notes of a total 45 will be diesel buses while the remaining five will be electric. Meanwhile, the Director of the Sanmerna Foundation says the annual treat continues to provide joy for the disabled. The treat was last held prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Watch the full report here:
