Parents and Educators Look Forward to Face-to-Face School

Days after Prime Minister Andrew Holness gave the green light for face-to-face school, educators and parents are thrilled by this news that will see thousands of students and teachers returning to their physical classes.

Looking to fill the learning gap, the resumption of face-to-face school or classes announced by the Education Ministry is deemed a necessary act. Stakeholders are welcoming the decision, in a sector that has suffered greatly from the COVID-19 pandemic, which calls into question the long term social and psychological effects

Principal of Kingston High, Andrea Grey-Dwyer says she is feeling ecstatic about the return of students to the physical classroom. She says even though the education sector has tried with online learning the students have suffered severely with the lack of in-class learning and supervision. Parents are also welcoming the decision, lauding the Prime Minister for finally allowing face-to-face resumption.

Dwyer says this is a move that is expected to bring a positive impact on education, especially on students who require more attention for labs and hands-on experience. She says with students returning to school soon, there will be COVID-19 protocols guided by the Disaster Risk Management Act, (DRMA).
