The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Chris Tufton has confirmed that in the coming week, the island is set to receive its first shipment of the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine. The Pfizer-Biontech vaccine has been proven to be safe and has been approved for use in children and adolescence.
Dr. Tufton says the prioritization of children is critical at this juncture. The utilization of this brand of vaccine will begin on Monday, August 23, at all vaccination sites. However, many are concerned as to whether or not these vaccines be mandatory for children to access public schools if and when face-to-face instructions begin.
Additionally, the country’s expected to receive approximately 118 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines in the coming week, to also be administered starting August 23 at all vaccination sites. The Government has booked and paid down on approximately 1.9 million doses of the Johnson and Johnsons vaccines, which will be delivered over some time.
