Crime fighting strategies are again being discussed, this time by church leaders who believe they should be doing more to combat the prevalence of violent crimes in the country.
The church is willing to aid the fight against crime, but Senior Pastor of the Faith International Harvest Church in Montego Bay, Bishop Delton Collins says the church is operating at 25 per cent of what he believes they are called to do. He says it accounts for their sluggish pace in the nation’s mission to eradicate crime and corruption. He frowns at the church’s repetitive nature of daily in-house preaching, which he describes as an “outdated method” that is simply ineffective. Yet his criticism of the church’s impact on the nation is not without solution, as Bishop Collins says the holistic function of the church needs to be re-advised.
Pastor Collins also believes a more direct, hands-on approach is needed, as he urges church leaders to venture into communities and speak with residents, noting his intention to foster partnerships with other agencies. Watch the report below for more details:
