The Pathways International Kingdom Restoration Ministries in Albion, St. James has been labeled a public health nuisance. The building has been at the center of a police investigation following cult-like activities on October 17 that saw two people murdered at the facility. The building has been left unattended since the incident.
A foul stench emanating from the building has not only caught the attention of crows circling the Pathways Church, but also the St. James Health Department. Representatives visited the area on Friday, October 29.
Health Parish Manager, Lennox Wallace says complaints were made by residents in the community. Mr. Wallace said officers were assigned an upon observation, serious breaches of public health and nuisances were found. He added that there was a huge fly nuisance as a result of the breakdown of meats and poultry. After closer inspection of the facility, a huge pile of solid waste was discovered.
According to Mr. Wallace, the Public Health Act gives the department the right to serve a notice on the owner or occupier of the premises. A public health nuisance is generally related to conditions that may affect one’s health or cause disease.
