Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Pearnel Charles Jr speaking at a Farm Road opening ceremony in Manchester recently, pointed to the significant benefit Jamaica could gain from utilizing idle lands for production, especially as the demand for Jamaican produce continues its increase internationally. Minister Charles Jr. Also addressed a major bane and deterrent to the sector, praedial larceny, which is estimated to cost farmers JMD $5 billion in losses each year. Additionally, the Minister notes the parish of Manchester has great potential to bolster production.
