Good riddance, Boris! That is the sentiment of one prominent returning resident who has lived through several leaders in the United Kingdom. The Jamaican says UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson overstayed his time at 10 Downing Street. The backlash comes as Johnson announced his resignation following a wave of resignations within the Conservative Party. Johnson however wants to stay on as Prime Minister until the party elects a new leader.
Founding President of the Jamaica Association for the Resettlement of Returning Residents, Percival Latouche, expressed a similar lack of confidence in Johnson’s service, suggesting that he had little positive effect and overstayed his time in the post.
Latouche says Johnson was by far one of the worst leaders he’s seen in his years in Britain. The Jamaican went further to say Johnson did not do much for the Jamaican diaspora and his resignation will perhaps provide an opportunity for a more mutually beneficial relationship between Jamaica and the UK.
