With the upcoming PNP conference in September, Former Opposition Leader Dr. Peter Phillips is endorsing his son, Mikael Phillips and Donna Scott Motley’s candidature for the role of Vice President.
Dr. Phillips was speaking at the Hagley Park Divisional Conference on Sunday. The event was held to endorse Councilor candidate for the division, Waynette Strachan. Former President of the People’s National Party and Member of Parliament for St. Andrew East Central, Dr. Peter Phillips on Monday endorsed his son, Mikael Phillips who has recently confirmed his candidacy in the race for vice president of the party.
Phillips’ announcement to vie for the post came as a surprise to some, as he resigned from the post just under a year ago. Nevertheless, Dr. Phillips says he supports his decision. The former opposition leader also endorsed VP Candidate Senator Donna Scott Motley, who he says has displayed loyalty and dedication to the party for decades. Meanwhile, speaking at the PNP divisional conference in Hagley Park, Minority Leader of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) Minority Caucus, Andrew Swaby slammed the Government for alleged delays in planning for the current hurricane season.
