Prime Minister Andrew Holness has hinted that current covid-19 measures will be re-crafted in a matter of days. He made the announcement while addressing members of the Jamaican diaspora as a part of the diaspora day celebration on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister also called on Jamaicans in the diaspora to intervene as there remains a high level of vaccine hesitancy.
As Jamaica like other countries contends with the reality of the covid-19 pandemic the prime minister is saluting the Jamaican diaspora for its contribution to the country’s development even in a time of crisis.
Of note, Prime Minister Holness says the significant contribution through remittances has proved very beneficial to the economy, especially with the fallout in tourism.
Mr Holness says there are plans to re-craft current measures under the Disaster Risk Management Act.
He notes however that citizen continues to compare the realities of countries like the U.S to the longstanding restrictions in Jamaica without taking into consideration the vaccination variance.
