As part of the Government’s vaccine mobilization and public education campaign, Prime Minister Andrew Holness toured vaccination sites in Northeast St. Andrew and Central Kingston earlier today.
In the push to get more Jamaicans vaccinated, the Government has mobilized vaccination ambassadors who will assist the process by encouraging and facilitating the vaccination of members of their communities. The Prime Minister says he is very hopeful that the community mobilization will reinforce the national message.
The Government continues its public education campaign geared towards tackling vaccine hesitancy and changing the minds of anti-vaxxers. Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the only way out of lockdowns, restrictions on events and to return to normality is by reaching herd immunity. He is reiterating that all vaccines being used in Jamaica are approved by the World Health Organisation, (W.H.O) and are safe.
The Prime Minister on Wednesday, September 8, advised about 40 mobilized vaccination ambassadors in North East St. Andrew, which their job is to assist in boosting vaccine take-up by using their experience to encourage their fellow citizens to get vaccinated.
Meanwhile, students and parents who received their first jab at the Holy Family Primary and Infant School in Central Kingston on Wednesday shared what prompted their decision.
The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Donovan Williams, while lauding the vaccine mobilization campaign, says Wednesday’s turnout at the vaccination sites was very encouraging and nurses and doctors are hopeful that many more residents will follow suit.
