In the spirit of improving the country’s crime fighting strategy, Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government is strengthening its partnerships with international entities. Referencing his five day visit to Washington DC, the Prime Minister says these efforts seek to mitigate the prevalence of lawlessness by Jamaicans locally and internationally.
This as he highlights the government’s intent to control the crime situation, hanging under Jamaica’s banner. He notes the island’s connections are vast and extend beyond the diaspora. He notes the partnerships have usually been one sided in the past, only utilizing Jamaica’s laws to interdict criminals who sparked their interest.
However, Prime Minister Holness believes this should be a two-way street, and he aims to make it so. With a warning to criminals, he says their linkages are not stronger than the government’s connections. Holness adds foreign agencies have already been given a list of names who are of interest to Jamaica.
