PM: No More Mining in the Cockpit Country Protected Area

There will be no mining in the Cockpit Country Protected Area. Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement in his contribution to the 2022/23 Budget Debate on Thursday. He says this is a major achievement by the government after decades of discussion.

The government’s also making progress with the protection of the Pedro Cays and its surrounding waters. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister says the government will move forward with the protection of the Pedro Cays and surrounding waters, noting work in the area is far more advanced. More details here:
