The Peoples National Party (PNP) has called the government’s proposal to end funding to the Peace Management Initiative (PMI) a backward move.
The government announced that the citizens and security justice programme through which it receives funding will come to a close on December 31.
It says the PMI is not meeting its target while the PNP says the initiative offers a unique approach to crime.
