The chasm within the People’s National Party (PNP) appears to be widening, as internal conflicts continue to surface and five resignations in one day is the latest indicator of further instability in the People’s National Party.
What happened and what’s next?
PNP General Secretary, Dr. Dayton Campbell says the recent resignations are unfortunate as there were ongoing negotiations to prevent another internal election.
However, Campbell says it will take time to repair fences and rid the organization of its deep-rooted division.
The Peoples National Party, which has only 14 Members of Parliament, continues to grapple with internal conflicts with insiders and party members expressing concern about the apparent implosion.
Party Leader Mark Golding pledged to bring back unity but, Dr. Campbell says it is no easy fix to solve over 15 years of continued disunity.
Dayton believes unity will not be attained unless the full extent of the division is recognized and dealt with accordingly.
Advisor to the party president, Dr. Canute Thompson, says the glimmer of hope that was being championed will be unattainable if all the sources of disunity aren’t dealt with.
