Scores of supporters and officials of the People’s National Party (PNP) protested outside the Black River Hospital in St Elizabeth Monday night, intensifying calls for the resignation of Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton. This follows the death of newborns at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston during the summer.
It is said the babies died over a four-month period during an outbreak of resistant bacteria. PNP Councillor Donovan Pagon of the Braes River division in the parish is appealing to the government to conduct an independent audit across health institutions to query the total number of dead babies.
