General Secretary of the People’s National Party, (PNP) Dr. Dayton Campbell says the Party’s making efforts to finalize changes to its voting mechanism for the posts of vice president and president.
This as the Party moves closer to a one vote per member policy shifting away from the delegates only voting system that currently maintains. He made the announcements during the Party’s weekly media briefing.
Dr. Campbell says the matter which has been in the media in recent times concerning the historic changes to the Party’s internal voting structure were considered at the Party’s recently concluded annual conference. If passed it would see one member being allowed one vote in the party’s internal elections for president and vice president erasing the long-held delegates voting system in such elections. Dr. Campbell noted that this resolution however has to go through the structures of the party; to NAC, regional organization and the constituencies. He added that this is something that the party is fully committed to, to expand the voting base of the party, so he member can have the right to cast their votes.
Dr. Campbell mentioned another resolution that was passed at the Party’s 83rd annual conference, Sunday. He was speaking at the Party’s post-conference media briefing. The General Secretary also hinted at another set of meetings to decide the different roles and duties of each of its newly appointed vice presidents.
