The opposition’s Peoples National Party (PNP) has named its shadow cabinet. The list of nineteen (19) members was released close to midnight on Wednesday but has kept several people awake with what has been described as shocking appointments, promotions, and demotions. But as one political commentator tells CVM Live, the shadow cabinet lacks synergy.
The 19-member Shadow Cabinet has been the topic of much debate since it was released around midnight.
Several demotions and promotions with Peter bunting, ally to the Peoples National Party President, Mark Golding named the leader of opposition business in the senate and spokesman on national security.
He’s expected to make his first appearance in the upper house on Friday, December 4.
The appointment has caused much public chatter though majority says they were not surprised.
As for political analyst and former Member of Parliament Lloyd B Smith, but to what extent will he be able to carry out his role as opposition spokesman on national security?
Smith theorizes that Golding did not have a choice and was rather limited. Bunting takes over from Fitz Jackson who is an elected MP. Anthony Hilton takes over from Phillip Paulwell as leader of opposition business in the house.
Julian Robinson has been shifted to Finance Planning and the Public Service. Denise Daley takes over from Neita Headley as spokeswoman Local Government and Community Development,
Lisa Hanna remains as spokeswoman on foreign affairs and foreign trade. Morias Guy returns as spokesman on Health and Wellness, Mikael Phillips, Housing, Transport and Works
News comers, Hugh Graham has been given commerce, science, and technology to shadow, Lothan Cousins, Water, and Agriculture; Senator Gabriela Morris as the Youth and Sports Spokeswoman – but despite the appointments, the political commentator says the cabinet lacks synergy.
