Since the start of the year, two Zones of Special Operations (ZOSOs) have been implemented with the objective to save lives, restore order and pursue transformative action. There are now seven zones of special operations on the island. While cementing their support for ZOSOs declared, opposition members questioned the scope of the enhanced security measure, saying areas left out are also experiencing high levels of criminality. Although the ZOSO in Parade Gardens, Central Kingston is said to be yielding some progress, the People’s National Party (PNP) is of the view that the enhanced security measure needs to be extended to other areas, experiencing significant levels of violence.
