The police are refuting claims made by 53-year-old bus driver Elkanah Sparkes. Sparkes was seen in a video being beaten by policemen, which he says was unprovoked, as he was complying.
The police are however telling a different story. The police are dismissing accusations of brutality against 53-year-old Elkanah Sparkes, who was seen in a video being beaten by two police constables at a bar in Stony Hill on Monday.
Speaking with CVM LIVE on Tuesday, senior communications strategist in the JCF, Dennis Brooks, says the bus driver blatantly disobeyed the orders of the police, resulting in the law enforcers using less lethal measures to achieve compliance.
Brooks says Sparkes was stopped by the police due to reckless driving that almost caused an accident in stony hill square.
Brooks rubbishes the driver’s claims that he didn’t resist arrest nor assaulted the police. He also tells our news team Sparkes personifies the colloquial “shotta driver” phenomenon.
