The presence of the police has comforted residents of Mountain View, who were two weeks ago hiding behind their doors following the killing of two residents in Burger Gully in the community.
Police say there has been a rift between residents of top Burger and bottom Burger causing many reprisals.
The friction has led to the deaths of one resident from either sections.
Sub Officer Wickham Campbell says the security forces were not welcomed at first but as they walked the streets day after day, residents became more responsive.
He says the operation spear headed by Superintendent Tomilee Chambers has helped to settle the tension between the top and bottom districts.
A peace volunteer from Burger Valley says he has partnered with several entities to craft social projects for the area.
Police say the tension started in mid 2020 when the original don of the Community Devon Murray otherwise called Pepsi was gunned down.
This has inadvertently led to gangsters in the community desirous of taking up the mantle of don vying for the illicit post.
However, police say two of the major suspects involved in the killings within the community are now in custody.
