The Police Commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, says Monday’s operation is a reflection of the police capacity to respond quickly and with necessary force.
The Commissioner says the entire operation is evidenced that with the technology and improved training the police force is able to deliver better policing.
The Police High Command says Monday’s incident is evidence of the improved technology and tactics being used by the JCF to boost the country’s crime-fighting mechanism.
With the Jamaica Eye Technology, the police kept tabs on the vehicle the gunmen were traveling in. But the point of confrontation, at the very front of a long line of traffic, with traffic lights on red the police were fired at by the men.
However, in the end when the lights went green, the gunman driving the car was injured, a second man was on the ground and their crony who fled the scene was later taken into custody.
Major General Anderson says the operation was well coordinated by the officers who responded to the incident.
