Police kill two men in an attempted robbery in Waltham Park Road area- Two of four men were fatally shot during a confrontation with the police off Waltham Park Road, St. Andrew in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The confrontation follows the robbery of a business place in the area. According to the Head of the St. Andrew South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Wayne Cameron, one of the deceased has been identified as Nicolas Miles otherwise known as ‘Roy Dread’, and the other identified only as Brandon.

He says Miles had been detained under the State of Public Emergency in March but was released when the SOE ended.

Up to 11 am, the security forces and the Independent Commission of Investigations ( INDECOM ) were active on the scene.

The owner of the business place tells CVM LIVE that someone called to tell her there was a heavy police presence at her business place.

Luckily for her, the culprits didn’t quite manage to get away with the items. A quick response from the police led to a confrontation, in which two (2) of them were killed.

Some items were subsequently recovered by the police. According to the head of the St. Andrew South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Wayne Cameron, the police, while on patrol received a call through their emergency centre that four armed men were carrying out a robbery at a business establishment, along St. Joseph’s Road, off Waltham Park Road. After responding promptly, they were met with gunfire.

Following an exchange, two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds; one clutching a Taurus pistol. He says the police believe one of the two men who escaped, may have been injured as well. Cameron adds that all major hospitals have been put on alert.
