Sandy Bay Boys Salute Mentorship from Police
A Clarendon police Theo Mclaughlin has stepped in to provide boys from Sandy Bay, in the parish, with a mentorship programme to teach the importance of contributing positively to society.
The police officer developed the mentorship programme to steer juveniles away from criminal outlets.
Some of the mentees are saluted the programme on July 25, saying it was an opportunity to become examples for their peers and be the change they want to see in the country.
One of the mentees Dominic says the programme has strengthened his abilities to withstand peer pressure and instead lead by example.
Daniel says the program has helped in his social and mental development.
And for 12-year-old Marshado Baker, the weeks of mentorship have made him more self-assured.
An award ceremony was held for the mentees recently.
