Members of the St. Catherine North Police Division toured several communities recently since the upsurge in crime in the area. In recent times the Linstead crime rate has surpassed Spanish Town which has been leading. The police say they are working assiduously to control the growing crime problem.
Head of the St. Catherine North Police Division Senior Superintendent of Police Howard Chambers says the division has been experiencing an upsurge in crime. SSP Chambers, during a walkthrough of the area says interventions have been established, in an effort to curb the growing problem.
He notes that various groups have been on board with the police in engaging the residence. The crime fighter says since the interventions a number of persons of interest have been apprehended. Among the four zones within the division SSP Chambers highlights more focus has been placed on areas which include Spanish Town and Linstead, as they continue the search for wanted men. He adds the source of crime in Linstead stems from longstanding feuds.
