A policeman and a businessman were charged with kidnapping, robbery with aggravation, breaches of the corruption act, possession of a prohibited firearm, and use of a firearm to commit a felony following an incident in Golden Grove Meadows, St. Thomas on Friday, May 3. Read the release:
Two men, including a policeman, have been charged with Kidnapping, Robbery
with Aggravation, Breaches of the Corruption Act, Possession of Prohibited Firearm, and Use
of a Firearm to commit a Felony following an incident in Golden Grove Meadows, St. Thomas
on Friday, May 03.
They have been identified as 35-year-old Raniel McGregor, a police officer assigned to the St.
Thomas Division and 42-year-old Lannie Pearcy, a businessman of Dalvey, St. Thomas.
Reports from the Morant Bay Police are that about 8:00 p.m., the complainant was at home when
McGregor and Pearcy pounced entered his premises and declared themselves as police officers. It
is alleged the accused men robbed the complainant of $J2,150,000 before forcibly taking him with
them. However, he was later released in his community.
A report was made to the police and an investigation commenced. McGregor and Pearcy were
subsequently arrested and charged. A court date for them is being finalised.
