Politician Pay Boost on Par with Other Sectors

Following the wave of criticisms for the Government’s pay hike, the Information Minister while not dismissing the concerns reiterates the changes are long overdue and are on par with the recent increases in other sectors. 

Minister Without Portfolio with Responsibility for Information Robert Morgan emerges as a voice of reason, cautioning against the perils of double standards. He says there was an absence of uproar when other sectors were granted similar significant increases. He cites similar scale increases for teachers, doctors, police, and other groups in the public sector.

Minister Morgan further explains the formula employed to calculate the politician’s raise is by no means novel. In fact, it has been a longstanding practice utilized for the past two decades, ensuring consistency in remuneration. Watch the report:
