The latest Don Anderson Poll, commissioned by the People’s National Party (PNP), reveals a growing number of Jamaicans who believe that the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is leading the country in the wrong direction. Additionally, the poll indicates that a majority of Jamaicans oppose another term for the JLP. The People’s National Party commissioned the Don Anderson Poll, which was conducted from June 14 to 18, to gather these insights.
According to the poll majority of the public says crime and violence is their main issue. This currently stands at 45 percent. 16 percent says the high cost of living, while another 16 percent said unemployment and 6 percent said corruption. Corruption is an issue that has sparked a conversation in the public domain. The General Secretary noted that the opposition and the shadow cabinet have already signed the Integrity Commission code of conduct, However he says the opposition is awaiting members of the government to also sign. Another question highlighted in the poll was if the government deserves a third term. 47.6 percent said no and 31.6 percent said yes, and 20.8 percent are unsure.
With regards to which of the two political parties are leading in the polls, when compared to the one done in June 2022 the PNP were at 18 percent while the JLP were at 34 percent. However that changed in February this year, with the PNP now at 28.1 percent to the JLP’s 27.9. For this June the polls show that PNP currently stands at 30.2 percent and the JLP at 25 percent.
