Residents of Durham Town in Portland were stunned upon hearing the cries of their neighbour who survived a brutal attack and sexual assault on Wednesday. As per the victim’s account, she was dragged into these bushes and beaten with a stone, then thrown over this precipice before finding help. She was rushed to the hospital by fellow residents. The alleged assailant, known to some, was reportedly living in the community since November of last year. Under the cloak of anonymity, one resident says fear holds residents captive.
Police visited the area on Tuesday but were unavailable to provide a comment. Residents speculate this incident is in connection with the sexual assault of a student from the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE), as well as a similar incident in St Thomas. The resident says more police presence is needed. More details in this report:
