Dead is 66-year-old Carlister Salmon otherwise called ‘Jerro’ a homeless man who roamed the parish of Portland. According to police reports about 10 am Saturday, Salmon went to the Port Antonio Friends Church where his lifeless body was later found laying at the front of the building in blood with a severe head injury and a large stone beside him. A suspect is being sought by the police. In the meantime, one resident who lives in the vicinity of the church described the kind of person Salmon was. She notes Salmon was not one to cause mischief.
Meanwhile, in another section of Port Antonio, there was another fatality. Dead is Calvin James a 55-year-old of Ganga Gully, Bound Brook. Information received by the Port Antonio police is that the deceased was a bystander among a group of men who were gambling on a premises which housed a shop. It is alleged that during this time an argument developed between the deceased and one of the men, who used a knife to stab him in the abdomen. The police were summoned and the injured man was rushed to the Port Antonio Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment. Investigations are ongoing.
