The Portland police in September 2021, listed Elroy Griffiths otherwise called ‘Greg’ as number one on their most wanted list for the murder of 50-year-old Maureen Johnson, his common-law wife on August 20, 2019, in Buff Bay. Johnson was allegedly stabbed during a dispute with Griffiths and the house they occupied, set ablaze with her inside.

The two had reportedly lived together for about 18 years.

At about 5 Tuesday morning, a joint police-military team went in search of Griffiths in Caenwood, Hope Bay, where he was found inside a house with a woman from the area; both of whom were taken into custody.
