Some Jamaicans are calling for a review of the gun licensing and approval process in Jamaica. The President of the Lay Magistrate Association Dr. Linden Rose is also calling for an overhaul of the Firearm Licensing Authority, FLA.
Dr Rose says the current system appears clandestine, much too opaque, and leaves many deserving Jamaicans exposed to criminal elements. Speaking with CVM LIVE on Sunday, he notes that the government needs to act in order to give law-abiding citizens a fighting chance.
The President of the Lay Magistrate Association goes further to suggest anyone owning businesses and employed to the security forces without any adverse findings or traits should be allowed to own private weapons; highlighting possible exposure they may face off the job.
