Preventing Criminal Migration from SOPEs

In a bid to prevent criminals from relocating to neighbouring parishes, during States of Public Emergency, SOPEs, a combined complement of security personnel recently intensified its operations on the Western border of Clarendon, which had been placed under a SOPE on Tuesday, May 16.

The migration of criminals seeking to avoid the 14-day State of Public Emergency in Clarendon is closely monitored by the security forces, who recently focused their efforts in Spalding, which borders Mandeville and is viewed as an attractive haven for criminals on the run. Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, David Blake, who is the operations officer for the Manchester Division, explained the presence of his command in Clarendon. DSP Blake says that the security forces are being particularly mindful of citizens’ human rights while acknowledging the disruption it has had on the town, which is believed to have a population of approximately 6,000 people.
