Prime Minister Andrew Holness sent a warning to gangsters and those involved in criminal activities, to turn over the illegal firearms. He says the government is putting in place a multi-million dollar fund that will significantly increase the reward paid to persons for information leading to the arrest of gunmen and the recovery of illegal firearms.
He was speaking at newly open Andrews Recreational Park, Olympic Way St Andrew. He continues the appeal for crime producers to turn in their illegal firearms. PM Holness announced that a new firearm’s bill will be taken to parliament soon, creating several new offenses against an illegal gun.
He mentions other elements of the government’s public plan. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is appealing to the private sector to inject funds into the security plan to recover illegal weapons. He insists that an incentive structure will be critical in this operation.
