Prime Minister Andrew Holness will not be accepting the increased salary much debated recently; this means, his salary will remain at its previous level, at $9.1 million annually.
Prime Minister Holness says he aims to serve the people, and notes in agreement many of the concerns that were raised about the increase, at this time. His announcement shocked some last evening as he rendered justification for his decision. The Prime Minister also reiterates the salary increase though controversial, was necessary as the government moves to reform the public sector assuring greater productivity and accountability.
