With a national median age of approximately 31 years, the present and future of Jamaica reflect in the attitudes towards and relationships between generations. On Sunday, February 5, at the Prime Minister’s Youth Awards for Excellence, a range of achievements was acknowledged and honoured.
It was a moment of recognition for 19 young Jamaicans who have made an outstanding contribution across 14 categories in 2022, as the Prime Minister’s National Youth Awards for Excellence served as a reminder of Jamaica’s generational potential.
Prime Minister Holness who has on numerous occasions expressed concerns about the influences on and the direction the youth of the nation are heading in, shared his hope that core Jamaican values can be re-cognized and reclaimed.
He charged the nominees and winners to continue to articulate a vision of positive progress and personal responsibility for the country’s betterment. Watch the full report:
