As Jamaica enters the new year the upsurge in positive COVID-19 Cases has seen daily averages in the triple-digit since the festive season. The country on Sunday recorded 769 new cases, mirrored in increased testing and rising positive results at one private lab.
At the start of the fourth wave, more persons are turning to private testing facilities looking to get results for traveling or work-related purposes.
Registered Nurse at MD-Link, Azzia Robinson says the Christmas season plays a pivotal role in the upsurge in testing. She reported that despite being a private facility the results are documented and reported to the Ministry of Health daily, as the Ministry needs to have to record and follow-up with the COVID-19 patient(s).
Nurse Robinson says Jamaica should expect more positive cases in weeks to come and implores Jamaicans to follow the COVID-19 protocols.
