Residents blocked a major thoroughfare in Clarendon, demanding better road conditions. The residents say the main road has been in a deplorable state for years adding to their frustration.
Protesters say when it rains, travel is impossible. PNP Councilor for the York Town Division Uphell Purcell says promises were made by the government for funds to be allocated towards road repairs.
There are, however, interim plans to help mitigate the difficulties. Another issue the councilor highlighted was under a section of the highway 2000 bridge, he says asphalting will be done in that area in short order. The police were also present to maintain order as the tensions were high. More details in the report below:
