The People’s National Party (PNP) executive on Sunday re-elected Chairman, Dr Angela Brown-Burke in the post. The incumbent secured the bulk of the votes over former Deputy PNP General Secretary, Raymond Pryce. A move that many expected to topple the reported unity.
Coming out of the Party’s 84th Annual Conference on a high with talks of unity under Leader Mark Golding, Dr Angela Brown Burke says she was not expecting a challenge to her chairmanship.
However, she accepted the challenge brought on by party member Raymond Pryce and won at the party’s powerful National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Clarendon on Sunday. Dr Brown Burke says the decision to re-elect her in the post is quite humbling, adding the work continues. Without stoking any further controversy or confirming allegations of a possible rift by the challenge to her post from some in the party opposed to Golding’s leadership, Dr Brown Burke says she hopes to serve all members.
